Never use the word "cabin" with the building department
Details
We offer two basic models, the Salt Box and the Alpine. Both are available with an optional loft and retractable stairs. (Warning: the loft may be considered additional square footage resulting in exceeding the 200 Sq ft non permit category)
The design of these buildings is one that can be built with a large router, a 10" circular saw, a 1/2" drill, some chisels and other basic carpentry tools. All angles are deliberately set to 45° for ease of cutting. Saltbox can accomodate 6x 8'x36" and 6x 12'x36" metal roofing panels, (recommended). Alpine can accomodate 14x 12'x36" metal roofing panels. Readily available at many locations in your chosen color.
The lumber packages are sized to allow full post and beam construction using traditional methods. For this level of work, a dedicated Mortiser is a huge time saver. You can also decide to use a good drill and chisel to make the eight mandatory dovetail joints in true post and beam fashion. The remaining joists, rafters, girts and braces can be installed into pockets cut with a router and finished with a chisel. For minimum assembly time, you may decide to install the braces with our specialized hidden cylindrical fasteners.
Our design drawings show all necessary dimensions needed to cut, assemble and raise your own post and beam cabin (or non habitable storage shed;-) Plans include how to use 4 rafters to build 2 wall jacks to raise the frame and lift and set the top plates. Generous heights on the tie beams and top plates allow doors to be installed on any side of the structure. Likewise, the optional loft can be configured with the staircase on either side.
(Note: Additional supports may be required with the loft packages, limiting where the entry door or window can be installed)
(Apologies for the minute dimensions, the CAD program is set to those tolerances. Please round all dimensions to inches:-)

Due to the heat from the recent fires, many of the trees on our property needed to be harvested. We offer lumber products consisting of Tamarack, Fir and Pine. Many trees were not burnt, but all their needles were and they suffocated after gracing us with many emergency cones and future trees.
We have a good inventory of lumber for your next building project.
We are located in the wonderful town of Conconully
